The Cross Inn

the cross inn

The Cross Inn, Llanblethian is a wonderful watering hole located in the rural outskirts of Cowbridge with a rich history dating back several hundred years.

It is a pub with community spirit at the very heart of it, where a successful campaign in recent years from residents in Llanblethian and the surrounding areas helped prevent the pub from being developed into housing.

We acquired the pub as part of The Coach Brewing Co pub portfolio in April 2023 and immediately embarked on an extensive refurbishment of it. Sadly the building had been badly neglected for many, many years and there were some major issues which hadn’t been resolved for decades. We spent 6 months rectifying all of these so that the pub has a strong foundation for the next few generations and beyond. The pub is now looking as good as ever.

What People Say About Us

Real ale. Craft beer.

Freehouse.

The Cross Inn has a wonderfully rich history dating back more than 200 years and we're very excited to embark on our tenure of it.

Ever since our journey began at The Coach back in 2006 we've been firm believers that a good pub truly belongs to everybody who frequents and enjoys it. Nobody ever really owns a pub as it's more than just a building - therefore a landlord can only ever be a custodian of it.

We're very proud to be playing a part in helping The Cross Inn continue it's life as a hostelry and as key-holders we'll champion the community mantra.

We look forward to offering a warm welcome and cold pint, to one and all.

  • What are your opening times?

Just like our sister pubs The Coach and 1 Town Hall Square, we’re open 7 days a week, 11:30am til 11pm.

  • Are you serving food?

    Short answer: not just yet.

Long answer: At present we’ve completed phase 1 of the project, this focused on rectifying major issues with the roof, cellar and cesspool along with an extensive refurbishment.

Phase 2 of our renovation will include the kitchen and once complete will see us be able to host guest chefs and regular street food “pop ups”.

For now we’re just drinks but will be looking to occasionally host food vendors in our car park.

  • Are you child friendly?

We’re family friendly and under 18s are permitted until 9pm.

  • Do you serve coffee?

Unfortunately we don’t have a coffee machine at the moment… But we do have a plethora of non-alcoholic drinks available, from traditional soft drinks through to 0.0% Guinness and we always try to keep a tasty non-alc beer on draught.

  • What events do you host?

Whether you're looking for a traditional pub quiz, some live music or a beer festival - we host a wide range of events... from darts tournaments to open mic nights. Head over to our Facebook page and give us a like/follow to stay up to date.

  • Are you dog friendly?

Yes absolutely! Dogs are very welcome and we have treats and water for them, just ask.
